FINMA supervisory category
FINMA places each bank and securities firm in a supervisory category from 1 to 5, based on criteria such as total assets, assets under management and privileged deposits. Category 1 covers the largest and most complex institutions, category 5 the smallest. Supervisory intensity and some requirements depend on the category; it says nothing about service quality.
