Vested benefits
When an insured person leaves a pension fund (2nd pillar) without joining a new one, for example during a career break or when leaving Switzerland, the exit benefit goes to a vested benefits account or policy. The money stays earmarked for retirement; early withdrawal is only possible in the cases set by law. Some vested benefits foundations allow it to be invested in securities.
