FinSA (Financial Services Act)
The Swiss Financial Services Act (FinSA, SR 950.1), in force since 1 January 2020, sets the rules of conduct that financial service providers must follow towards their clients.
It covers client segmentation (retail, professional, institutional), duties to inform about the provider, its services, costs and conflicts of interest, appropriateness and suitability checks, documentation duties and transparency on compensation received from third parties (retrocessions).
Providers serving retail clients must be affiliated with a recognised ombudsman.
